We envision our sensory room as a space where students can go to have a movement break. Having sensory movement breaks throughout the day helps students emotionally regulate and improve their focus. Many students with neurodiversities (like autism or ADHD) are either under- or over-responsive to sensory input. This can mean that they are easily over- or under-stimulated by the school environment. For both types of students, the sensory room helps their body regulate so their brain can focus on learning.
