GEO Gift Economy Registry and Exchange (GEOGERE)
The GEO Gift Economy Registry and Exchange (GEOGERE.com) — pronounced "GEO-Gear" — is a global registry and exchange that exists to fulfil the multiple and varied needs of many real micronations and micronationalists. The Western world, or historic First World, has major global markets or financial centres in New York City and London. Even the barter system — by which goods or services are directly exchanged for other goods or services, without using a medium of exchange such as money — in some western market economies has been aided by exchanges that use alternative currencies. Examples include Ithaca HOURS (Time banking), and the LETS system. Until recently, however, there was no major exchange for the gift economy. A gift economy — or gift culture, gift exchange — is a mode of exchange where valuables are not sold, but rather given without an explicit agreement for immediate or future rewards. This is the reason why the GEO Gift Economy Registry and Exchange (GEOGERE) exists. GEOGERE exists to serve micronationalists mainly, but in truth any man or woman of goodwill — goodwill is a fundamental value in the gift economy! — can use this registry and exchange if he or she understands that not only there are predator nations, or nations full of ill will, but there are also today at least a few gift nations, or nations full of goodwill.
